Many people, myself included, choose not to have their local newspaper (or any newspapers and magazines) delivered to their home. Instead, we find that we can read all the news we can handle online. Most newspapers have enough news online, and what they don't have, sites like Fox News and CNN more than make up for the difference.
In the past, newspapers brought us the up-to-date news each morning. Yet, today, we find that news changes faster than that. CNN was among the first to give us up to the minute news, as it happened. That was great, if you had time to watch the TV all day.
Now, most use the internet to keep up with changing news. It happens fast so you have to be able to look at the internet on an almost continual basis. Yet, you can visit some sites several times a day and not see anything new. With the thousands of sites available to bring us that news, how can you keep up with them?
Enter Bloglines.
It's like having the internet delivered to you like a newspaper whenever you want. You visit the Bloglines site and register. After registering, you select the sites you want to monitor. The site then keeps track of their RSS feeds. As they update, it tracks them and when you visit back, it shows you which sites have changed.
Looking at the sites that have changed, you can see either a summary or the entire article, depending on what the feed offers. You then need only visit a site once it has updated its feed. It's like getting an internet newspaper whenever you're ready.
I highly recommend you check out this valuable resource. If you read a lot of sites (I have 25 feeds in my profile), it can save you a lot of time.

Free Applications
I don't get a chance very often, but when I can I love to check out the Kim Komando show. I'm pretty good with computers, but she always has something for me. This past weekend, she pointed us to a great site that can be very useful to people who carry a lot of work home with them.
For those that do tend to take work with them, or just like to work on different computers, it would be great to take some of your applications with you, such as email or web browser or even word processor. It would be quite helpful so you wouldn't have to worry about sharing passwords on different computers or making sure the computer you work on or use has the right application. Well, she showed us a site that has just that; applications for people on the go.
PortableApps.com
PortableApps.com has great open source software that you can load onto a USB drive to carry with you wherever you go. And, we all know what "open source" means, right? It means FREE. That's right, free applications that are small enough to load onto a portable USB drive and carry with you for checking your email, browsing the web or word processing and spreadsheets. Many are familiar with the full size applications for your hard drive, but these are small enough to put on your flash drive and carry with you.
Appliciations included are Mozilla Thunderbird for email, Firefox for browsing, OpenOffice for all your office work needs, ClamWin portable antivirus, games, video players, FTP clients, and so much more. If you have a large enough flash drive, you can download the entire list as a suite. Just download the programs you want and install them on your flash drive. It's that simple.
So, check out PortableApps.com and don't let portability slow you down any longer. Also, check out Kim Komando for many other helpful tips, downloads and information on all things computer.

Family Friendly Entertainment Reviews
As anyone with a family knows these days, it can be a jungle out there trying to decide what to allow your children to watch. With movie ratings and music content warning labels it is a little easier, but not always easiest. I have seen PG-13 movies that a ten-year-old could watch, and I've seen some that I didn't want to watch. What we need is someone we can trust to give us a respected review to warn us of content not designed for families.
Buddyhollywood
Buddyhollywood.com will give you good assessments of movies, books, music and more that help you determine whether such entertainment is suitable for your family. The reviews are straight-forward and give you helpful information to help you make your decision.
The site is maintained by people who have been around the industry for many years, and have seen the ups and downs, the good and bad. The owners and their team of writers are quality not found many places on the web these days. They are not biased, and therefore, offer quality reviews that are designed to help you do your job, not do it for you.
Checking out Buddyhollywood.com before spending your hard earned dollars on entertainment will give you peace of mind. You'll be glad you found a "friend in entertainment."

Great Christian Resource
I have been doing ministry to 20-somethings for a little over a decade now. I have read books upon books about reaching Gen-Xers, Gen-Y's, and everything else you can imagine trying to stay on top of what makes today's college students tick and what grabs their attention. I have been to seminars and retreats just trying to learn the next "big" thing coming down the pike. I feel like I do a pretty good job most of the time, but the effort and time trying to stay there is exhausting.
About two years ago I heard about a new resource that has changed all that. Oh, I still read books and attend workshops and such, but this one source has changed how I look at and for those resources. Relevant Magazine keeps me on top of what is important and relevant to today's youth. Both the print magazine and the online site combine to give me the information I use everyday in my ministry.
Relevant is more than just a magazine that lists who's hot, who's not, what music and movies to watch, etc., it's interviews with popular and controversial people. It's articles about things most Christians won't give the time of day. They cover topics that young people today want answers to. They talk to people who don't always say what they are supposed to say.
The magazine prints once every other month and can be had for a low as $12 per year. The online content updates regularly and really compliments the print magazine. If you are looking for a resource to help your church reach more young adults, you should not overlook this magazine.

Sudoku
It's all the rage. Everywhere you turn, this little number puzzle is in front of you. It's in books, newspapers, magazines and on the web. It's addictive and fun. For some, it's more difficult than for others, but everyone enjoys it, once they play it.
But, what if you want to play it on your computer? Sure there are programs you can buy or download, but what if you want to play it free?
Daily Sudoku
Each day a new puzzle awaits. The difficulty level changes each day, but they also have all previous puzzles archived. You can have the game automatically advance you to the next empty square once you've finished with one or you can do it manually. You can have it tell you what numbers are possible for a square or you can figure it out and mark it yourself. It can give you hints or let you start over if you make a mistake. It even tells you if you double a number.
For those addicted to the puzzle, I highly recommend this site. It's free and fun. It allows you to print them if you don't have time to work it online or to work it right there at your computer. They are challenging, not push overs. You'll really enjoy Daily Sudoku.
